Hangman's Sorrow

No sir, no sir, no sir.
I can't do what you ask.
I've got to do this gruesome gruesome task.

You did what you thought you had to.
You did what you did to get by.
I'm not the one who sent you here, or setenced you to die.

No sir, no sir, no sir.
I can't do what you ask.
I've got to do this gruesome gruesome task.

I hope you've said your prayers
I hope you've set right you soul
I'm sorry sir, but I've got to do what I'm tol'.

I'm sorry that your girl has to see you here.
I'm sorry that you have to see her cry.
I'm sorry that she has to suffer and see you die.
I saw Hahatonka Wednesday and heard a traditional song they preformed, "Hangman".

I wrote this as the hangman's response to the convict's request.

EDIT: Here's a link to Hahatonka preforming the song live [link]
The sound quality sucks, but oh well.

Jeez! Talk `bout depressin'!

Though, I knew what song you was talkin' `bout before you even mentioned the group.
